Clip Reports

Detailed electronic clip reports are sent out monthly. Summary reports with clips are mailed weekly.

You also can get up-to-the-minute results by tracking your clips online, which you can do 24 hours a day, seven days a week! You can obtain a log-in number and password after we process your first clip. Just call Genie Burn, NewsUSA Contract Manager, at (703) 462-2041 or e-mail gburn@newsusa.com for further details.

How soon will newspapers use the story?

Some newspaper editors may pick up your story the same day they receive it; others will choose to use it days, weeks or months later — depending on their needs. Typically, your feature will see the most use in the six months following its print distribution date. However, some "evergreen" features continue to place for years.

When will I see results?

  • After your feature appears in newspapers, our clipping services will find the clips and mail them to us. Once we receive the clips, we process them and generate your first report. You will continue to receive reports for 18 months from the media date or date of publication.
  • Typically, it will take 8 to 12 weeks from the print distribution date to start seeing many of your clips. Why? After your feature is distributed, we need to allow time for editors to use the feature and then for us to get the clips back.

How do I interpret the clip report?

When you receive your clip report, it will have the following content: a summary page, a detail page and a detail graph along with the actual physical cut-outs of your article from the newspapers.

Click on each link for examples (in PDF format) and explanations of the data contained in your report.
